Job search tips

I got an unsolicited resume & form cover letter by fax (violating FCC spam fax laws BTW). I wrote back with constructive criticism to email.

I got an email response, “Based on your response it does not sound like I would be a good fit in your firm.  Therefore, I withdraw my resume.”

What a missed opportunity: If your looking for a job & the employer offers advice on improving ur job search, be gracious. It is insight into what employers are looking for and can only help your job search.

Also, don’t stop the conversation after learning that the employer cannot hire you.

  • Ask for an introduction to another business which might be able to hire you.  An introduction opens so many more doors than a cold call.
  • Ask the employer for comments and critiques on your proposal.
